Trademark classes explained: pick the right one in 5 minutes

The basics

Trademarks in India follow the Nice Classification — 45 classes, 1–34 for goods and 35–45 for services.

D2C brand starter pack

  • Class 35 — retail, e-commerce, marketing.
  • Class 25 — apparel.
  • Class 30 — packaged food, coffee, tea, snacks.
  • Class 03 — cosmetics & personal care.

Multi-class filing

Each class incurs separate government fees. Stagger filings if you are cash-conscious — but file the class that protects your revenue stream first.
